Conversation With Nichelle Grant, Head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Siemens USA
In the ever-changing workplace, leaders with expertise in diversity, equity and inclusion are now more important than ever. We join the Women in Technology Initiative at the University of California for this speaker series that features corporate leaders in diversity, equity and inclusion roles. They share their journeys and insights gained while advocating for diversity and inclusion at major corporations. Moderators Ramu Nagappan (Assistant Dean at UC Berkeley Extension) and Jill Finlayson (Director of the Women in Technology Initiative at UC) will explore with Nichelle Grant—Head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Siemens USA—her career progression; key diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives at Siemens, USA; and lessons learned that she can pass on to other companies.

Courageous Conversations: How to Handle Conflict in the Workplace
Conflict, disagreements and misunderstandings are inevitable in the workplace. Developing the courage and skill to have necessary conversations are a way to stop conflicts before they turn into larger issues. In this session, Vaneese Johnson, The Boldness Coach and one of UC Berkeley Extension’s Career Development lead instructors, will discuss the framework to prepare and have courageous conversations. Learn techniques and strategies to articulate your thoughts and opinions and make requests that can clear up misunderstandings and help create positive relationships with colleagues.
