Spring Break as a BHGAP Student

Karin Szu is a business administration and computer science student from the Technical University of Munich, and a graduate of the Berkeley Haas Global Access Program (BHGAP), which brings international students from diverse backgrounds to study business and entrepreneurship at UC Berkeley. Her post originally appeared on her blog and has been edited for clarity and length.

 

Hi there! Today is the first day after spring break, and my thoughts are wandering back to the fun-filled time I had this past week. Five fellow BHGAPers and I decided to go on a road trip to Los Angeles, Death Valley and Las Vegas.

Los Angeles and Death Valley

On a chilly Saturday, we all woke up early for a five-hour drive to Los Angeles. Fortunately, the traffic wasn’t too bad, and we arrived hungrily in sunny southern California in the afternoon. Here are some photos from our three days in L.A. We visited Santa Monica Beach, LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art), Griffith Observatory, Disneyland and UCLA (but we think the UC Berkeley campus is much more beautiful).

Next, we headed to Death Valley to chase the stars and catch the sunrise. One of the most memorable moments of the trip was sitting by the campfire and enjoying each other’s company. We bonded over instant ramen and meaningful talks 🙂.

Vegas, Baby

Finally, we made our way to Las Vegas. I was incredibly excited to finally experience the vibrant life of this crazy city. And yes, I did go to the casino and lost 5 dollars in total after playing two rounds of Roulette and Blackjack. Some of my friends, however, were less fortunate…

I had a memorable spring break trip with the best people I could ever imagine. I'm grateful for a week off to explore what California and Nevada have to offer. Thanks so much for reading. I shall see you soon!
