UC Berkeley is once again the Number One public school in the country—tied with UCLA—in the latest 2024 American college rankings by U.S. News & World Report.
Berkeley also shares the top spot in the 2024 national U.S. News rankings for its undergraduate psychology, environmental/environmental health, civil, data analytics/science and undergraduate economics programs.
For the past nine years, U.S. News has also named Berkeley the top public university in the world, and many Berkeley graduate programs regularly lead the national rankings. Additionally, Berkeley has moved up from the #20 spot to #15 for Best National Universities.
The national rankings assessed an all-time high of 1,600 U.S. bachelor degree-granting institutions on 19 measures of academic quality. These measures include graduation and retention rates, financial resources, first-generation graduation rates, student-faculty ratio, faculty resources and class size.
For the organization’s Global Universities Rankings, Berkeley continues to hold the #4 spot.
Continuing with our upward mobility in rankings, the latest QS World University Rankings puts Berkeley at #10 for top global universities in 2024; in 2023, the university was ranked at #27.
Shanghai Ranking selects Berkeley in their #5 spot, an achievement we’ve held since 2021.
Additionally, Forbes named Berkeley the best public university in the country and Pitchbook gave us the top spot for the number of venture-funded startups its undergraduate alumni have founded.
